The Beatles vs. Justin Bieber
This was my reply to someone who said “the Beatles were the Justin Bieber of their time”…
Whoa whoa whoa… There are some major differences between Justin Bieber and the Beatles.
1st, the Beatles were a band. Bieber is a singer.
2nd, the Beatles wrote great music and lyrics that have and will continue to go down in history. Justin Bieber (who probably doesn’t even write the music) sings unoriginal, mediocre songs that will be forgotten once the next clone of a pop “artist” comes along.
3rd, the Beatles have fans of all ages and genders. Bieber has a fan base of preteen girls.
4th, the Beatles paid attention to society and the world around them which gave them inspiration for great lyrics and if you listen to them from their first album to their last, you’ll notice that their sound evolves. Bieber’s music doesn’t change.
When Justin Bieber gives credit to the people who play his music (or band members), writes songs that aren’t just about a relationship with cliche lines like “never say never”, writes his own music, and starts to make efforts to change the way music is evolving so he can someday go down in history rather than fade away like every other male singer out there, then you can compare him to the Beatles. You’d be closer if you said that Elvis was the Justin Bieber of his day but it would still be an unfair comparison.
